My Number

What you can spend today until payday.

My number today is $42, after the bills you've added and the repeats it can see in your history, your cushion, and the savings transfer you've set. A yearly bill, like insurance, still has to be added.

Sound familiar?

  • You get paid every two weeks, but your budget thinks in months.
  • A yearly bill, like insurance, shows up and wrecks the week.
  • Your budgeting app gives you a number, but you can't tell where it came from.
  • You're tired of sorting every coffee into a category.
  • You want one answer: what can I spend until payday?

Budgeting isn't hard because you're bad at it. It's hard because most tools don't match how you get paid.

Features

  1. 01

A budget that runs payday to payday.

Your budget starts when your paycheck lands and ends the day before the next one. Pay dates are spotted in the transactions you upload, and you can change them. Prefer the calendar month? That's an option. No regular payday? Tell us when you next expect income, and your number runs until then.

  2. 02

One number, with the bills it can see.

The bills you've added, and the repeats it can see in your history, are subtracted before you see your number. A yearly bill, like insurance, is not spotted from a few months of history. You add that yourself. Card payments and the savings transfer you've set are subtracted too. Your cushion, the amount you always keep in checking, is subtracted as well. What's left is your number for today, updated daily. If even $0 a day would drop you under that cushion, the number is $0.00 and the page says you're short before payday.

Don't just trust the number. Check it.

Tap your number and see every step that produced it. The example on this page is $42 a day, labelled Example. The projected low in that example sits $54 above a $1,200 cushion.

  4. 04

    Less sorting.

Duplicate pending charges are folded into the posted charge. Transfers between your own accounts, and card payments, are not counted as spending. Merchant names come out clean. You start with a short list of categories you can add to. A simple read shows whether your daily average is under your number or whether you're short before payday.

How it works

  1. 01

Upload a bank file, or a YNAB or Monarch export. Bring at least 90 days of history so the repeats can be seen. A yearly bill, like insurance, still has to be added by you.

  2. 02

Add your checking balance, confirm your next payday, and set your cushion, the amount you always keep in checking.

  3. 03

See your number. Most people get there in about two minutes.

At launch you bring your data by uploading a file. There is no automatic bank connection yet. Upload a fresh file once or twice a week, and right after payday, to keep the number current. Updated daily means the number refreshes from the file you uploaded. It does not mean we pull your bank every morning.
